This Belgian's name is Susie and she is officially retired from riding. Now she gets only pampering and treats! The owner told the girls that Susie just LOVES getting groomed! She shows the girls how to move around the horse without making her nervous.
Even a large draft horse doesn't scare Drew! She stepped right up and started brushing her!
And though Drew wasn't nervous, watching my petit daughter standing directly behind the horse while she brushed her tail certainly made ME nervous!
Next on the list, treats for Susie! Drew laughs at one of her troop mates having a hard time holding the bowl up while Susie chows down...
Until she gets her turn at it and realizes just how hard it is to hold that bowl up under a hungry horse's chewing!
The part Drew was waiting for...riding! This horse's name is Lizzie and she is reserved strictly for the smaller kids! Lizzie is very short, but you can still barely see Drew's head over the saddle even when she's on a step!
Upsy daisy!
I don't think the beaming smile left her face for the entire ride!
I think this was taken right before she asked me for riding lessons!
Hannah S. and Claire giggling at something only 9 year olds think is funny...the horse's behind!
Hannah grooming Susie.
This particular picture is now blown up to 11x14 and is hanging on her wall next to her bed! I think I've created a monster! Drew really lights up when she's doing something she really loves...I believe she loves this as much as she loves ballet! And that's saying a lot!
