The Good Life!

Big post, lots of pictures. Sorry for the delay, but we sure have been busy! Let's start with a weekend trip to one of our favorite campgrounds...Robert Moses State Park in Massena, NY. What made this trip special is that it was adults ONLY! We went with Dean's brother Dan and his wife Tina, the C's and the S's. The park has a brand new loop this year, so we thought we'd try it out and are we glad we did! It's very wooded like our previous favorite loop, but right on the water! Here's the view from our site. It looks right on one of the locks and a ship happened to be going upstream when I shot this.

While there, Sue C, celebrated her birthday! Sue S. made her this Ho-Ho cake (and her mom made the cheesecake on the right side of the picture) just for the occasion! Yummy!
Sue blows out her candles!
Sue and her husband, Randy. These guys are SO much fun to camp with! This Thursday, we'll be again camping with them, the S's, Dan and Tina, Grandma and Grandpa and Jim and Julie (WITH all the kids this time!) at Brennan Beach. We're looking forward to that 5-day trip!
Drew's class went on a field trip across the border to Ottawa's Science and Technology Museum. Dean and I chaperoned and we pulled Luci out of class to go as well.
How many munchkins can we squeeze into a phone booth??

My third child, Dean, had lots of fun, too!
A crooked kitchen!
You remember me mentioning something about a third child, don't you?
Dean and the girls coming out the end of a long windy slide.
Luci's class held their annual Father's Day celebration and invited all the Dad's. Luci gets ready to present her gifts to Daddy!

Father's Day at home...Daddy opens more presents!

Can't forget Papa!
A Yankees tie! Alright!!

Kisses all around! Grandpa got his present a couple days later, but I forgot my camera!
Drew's class invited friends and relatives to watch their talent show! Drew and two of her classmates twirl batons. I am amazed at how good Drew is at twirling!

This was a really high throw and she caught it!!
The talent show finale featured everyone in the class, but Drew and two other girls were up front in their "angel" costumes while another student lip synched to The Cupid Shuffle.

Drew...a perfect angel! (Wellllllllllll, usually!)
A pirate ship, which was featured in several movies including Pirates of the Carribbean, was docked for several days in the area, so I brought the girls down to see it. Here they are standing in front of it. It was much bigger than it looks in this shot!
A relaxing weekend get-away to a cottage in Quebec, Canada was in order! Family friends own a cottage on Lac de Sable (Sand Lake) just outside of Notre-Dame-du-Laus and since we haven't been there since Drew was just a toddler, we decided to go for it! So glad we did! This is the view from the property's beach. Beautiful!
The cottage is frequently teeming with friends and relatives and this time was no different. These two boats belong to Peter (and he has another at home!) He invited Dean for a ride in this speed boat.
That's right, Dean, hang onto your hat!
It had the coolest light effects in back!
Check out that rooster tail! We were estimating it to be over 100 feet long!
Back from the ride, hat's off his head and the hair is wind-blown! He said it was lots of fun! Too fast for me!!
The kids enjoyed the beach immensely! The two cottages next to the one we visited are also owned by relatives, so the crowds are always large and friendly! This raft is owned by Joey and Phyllis. They pulled it in closer to shore so the little kids could enjoy it, too!

On Tuesday, the 22nd, Dean and I flew to Orlando, FL so Dean could receive an award for a project he spent three years assisting with. Here's the hotel roomed where we stayed. It was REALLY nice! The nicest I've ever stayed in!

Here's the view from our room. The hotel was outstanding! Three pools, two hot tubs, massage, restaraunts, golf course, clothing boutiques and a HUGE conference complex. All the hotel shuttles were either BMW vans or Caddy Escalades. There was an enormous fancy bird cage in the lobby which had numerous nesting Zebra finches. It wasn't your average tourist hotel, so I didn't feel comfortable snapping pictures outside of our room, so you'll have to take my word for it that it was truly luxurious!
At the awards luncheon, the keynote speaker was Donna Brazile. If you've never heard of her before, google her! She was a fantastic speaker! She is a Democratic Presidential strategist who has worked with several Presidents and Presidential candidates. Her speech was political in nature, but it was very bipatisan and EVERYONE in the room enjoyed her humor! I was inspired by everything she said and laughed out loud many times! It is a speech I won't soon forget!

Here is Dean posing with the other Dept of Transportation award recipients, along with Donna Brazile and the head honcho of GSA...sorry, his name escapes me at the moment! Dean received a beautiful engraved acryllic award and an envelope. In the envelope was an apology letter stating his monetary award had not yet been prepared in time for the award presentation! As another award recipient in a different branch stated...it's because the government is broke! Ha ha! So Dean's still waiting to hear how much it will be! Ah well! What can you do??
No...this is NOT Drew's mouth! It's Luci's and her teeth are doing the SAME thing as Drew's! That's a really big adult tooth wanting to move forward into that teeny little space occupied by the baby tooth! I have a feeling Luci's going to have a really big beaming smile that's all pearly whites!!
Fortunately for Luci, her baby tooth was actually loose, unlike Drew's! So I tied a piece of dental floss around it and had her tug on it for a while.

SUCCESS!!! Luci's first tooth!! Her other bottom tooth is also wiggly and you can see the adult tooth just under the gums...shouldn't be too long before I'm posting another tooth story!
Here's her note to the Tooth Fairy with the little tooth on the left!
At the same time, one of Drew's top teeth was loose as well!

Here's Drew's dental floss with instructions to tug away.
Because Drew's bottom tooth was pulled out root and all, she was rather eluctant to let me pull it. After MUCH convincing (and a bribe of $5 extra dollars from me in addition to the $5 she'd get from the Tooth Fairy) she finally let me do it! Out it came...NO root! Once she calmed down, she was jumping around like crazy with a big gappy grin on her face! So far, she can still whistle, but her other top tooth is also loose, so when that one comes out, she may have issues then! Haha!!
My little gappy-grin girls!

I'll be publishing another post soon, as we have just gotten home from our annual travel group picnic. We got together with people we traveled with to China when we adopted Drew. Lots of pictures in that one as well, so I decided on a seperate post for that. In August is Luci's travel group picnic...an event we haven't been able to attend in years past due to prior engagements. But we're making a concerted effort to attend this year! So, check back soon for the next post!
